Skateboard Grab Bag: 3000 Miles on a Skateboard, Active Blinks on Blanks, Vans Turns 40

Dave Cornthwaite has broken the previous distance skateboarding record by one kilometer, completing his 4831km ride in 5 months. Active Ride Shop and Mail Order has announced that they will no longer carry blank decks starting January 1st, 2007. Also, Vans shoes, now owned by conglomerate VF Outdoor, has turned 40 years old. The shoes have enjoyed a long assocation with the core skateboard market and at least one pair was designed by Tony Alva * and Stacy Peralta *.
