- Pueblo Aims To Rename Skatepark for Local Soldier Lost

Local skateboarders in Pueblo, Colorado * want to rename the Pueblo skatepark * in honor of a local soldier who died in Iraq * last month. Said Terri Wenzel, "Blake was an all-around fun guy and he was with us from the beginning when we were trying to get the skate park built." Rob is the star of MTV *'s 'reality' show Rob & Big. A Connecticut * newspaper has waxed philosophical on the topics of skateboarding and rap -- the why, the how, the when. The connection is undeniable. Also, Montreal, Canada *'s "Big O" skatespot has been immortalized in a new book and article in the local newspaper. A bill that would require skateboarders younger than 14 years old to wear helmets passed the Legislature last week. If the bill becomes law, skateboarders would additionally be "required to wear reflective clothing at night ... and could not carry anything while skateboarding that might obstruct their view". Violators’ parents could be subject to a state fine of $50; local governments could tack on a $55 surcharge, bringing the fine to $105. (Full Article) Search *
