Exposed Freesports Film Weekend, London UK, March 14-16 2003
(Posted 2/26/2003)

(By Josh Rabinowitz for SkateboardDirectory.com)

London * creative firm Third Planet, "the crew that brought you London’s premier concrete skate event ‘Meanwhile…Back at the Park’", is hosting a free ‘Exposed Freesports Film Weekend’ at Westbourne Studios in London, March 14-16 2003 *. The three night and two day event will celebrate skateboarding and other "freesports film, art, photography, music and related stuff."

Exposed Logo According to Third Planet, the launch night on Friday 14th will be supported by EB Beer and accompanied by sounds from Funkin’ Pussy’s DJ Hooch. A "badass display of skateboarding, BMX and daredevil feats from our French * Le Parkour friends" is scheduled, along with displays of photographs and other art from Richie Hopson, Paul Bliss and artists associated to Howies.

Also promised are "special premiere screenings in the cinema" as well as "a few surprises to keep you entertained".

Doors open to the public on Saturday 15th March and Sunday 16th March, and films will be shown "covering skateboarding, snowboarding, BMX and surfing films but also representing more off the wall sports like Le Parkour and wheelbarrow freestyle *". The organizers go on to promist that "along with the usual music and bar (this) will make for a cool weekend of free fun and games for skaters and adrenaline culture junkies of all ages."

The Competition

Third Planet "invites you to submit a short film or animation with a freesports bias", but notes that "all genres of filmmaking will be considered" and that "what's interesting sometimes is not the spectacle, but the culture that gravitates to it". More details are available at the Exposed Films website.

The deadline for entries is Friday 28 February 2003. Results and prizes including "cash, equipment, product and exposure ... as well as the chance to see your film on a big screen " will be awarded on Sunday 16 March 2003 at Westbourne Studios.

The organizers are "currently sourcing the best videos and footage" and welcome your feedback about what you'd like to see at the event. More information can be found through Nadia at Third Planet, 020 8968 8468
